Yoga Nidra is a relaxation practice intended to invite the practitioner deeper into their inner world. With verbal guidance, the body becomes increasingly more aware, while simultaneously relaxed. This practice consists largely of guided body awareness, guided breath awareness and following of verbal instruction to withdraw the senses just enough to move into deeper state of consciousness. This practice will be paired with Restorative Yoga. Restorative yoga is a practice of comfort and support; no need to stretch in these yoga shapes.
The Session begins with light movement to prepare for restorative yoga shapes that are completely supported with props, with the only intention being to relax and enjoy. Halfway through the session, Ashleigh will begin the guided meditation/Yoga Nidra segment. You will be laying down for most of this practice which makes this practice perfect for anyone, no matter what your knowledge or skill level of yoga or meditation may be. The benefits of this practice are much like those of meditation alone, including but not limited to: steadies the heart rate, eases insomnia, decreased anxiety, stress reduction, heightened awareness, improved focus, mental clarity, enhanced creativity, and easing chronic physical pain.
