Elevate: Arm Balances

with Stacey Young

Wednesday March 30th, 5:30-6:45 pm

Location: Cardinal Drive

$30

Our Elevate classes offer students a unique opportunity to explore, deepen, and grow their individual practice. Come to Elevate with an open mind and leave equipped with focused knowledge, techniques, and skills to transform your practice on and off the mat.

This 75-minute workshop will cover the mechanics of arm balancing involving the poses you most often encounter in a vinyasa class including crow (bakasana), side crow (parsvabakasana), koundinyasana I and II, eight angle pose (ashtavakrasana), and flying crow (eka pada galavasana). We will also work on transitions into and out of these postures. You will see that while arm balancing does require some strength, it also requires the ability to shift weight to find your center of gravity.

Please join us if you’re interested in learning to incorporate this fun category of postures into your practice. If you have a more advanced practice, you will learn the nuances of bandhas (energetic locks) and how you can use them to enter and exit these postures with ease.

We do recommend a regular vinyasa practice for at least six months and healthy wrists and shoulders for participants.
